A brief history.

Camille Lorigo launched her concept shop, Che Camille, in July 2006 on floor 3 of Glasgow's legendary art hothouse, The Chateau. The name, Che Camille, and the concept were inspired by the need for a revolution in fashion and the desire for retail spaces to be more personal.

The shop was built entirely by friends donating time. Che sold fashion, accessories, fine and interactive art. Designers, photographers, artists, bands, writers, DJs, mask makers, furniture makers worked in studios all round the house. There were crazy fashion shows, clothes swaps, sew downs, and open doors to the public at the weekends. Those in the know came to shop, browse, gather and gossip.

Che launched its second incarnation in May 2007, in Merchant City's edgy Saltmarket, as part of the Six Cities Design Festival. This shop was designed by SiLo and Heather Lander, artist. Furniture designers lent tiled sofas, innovative cabinets and counters to fit out the shop. It was for this boutique that Che Camille was awarded Most Stylish Boutique in Scotland in Nov 2008.

Che Camille moved to its current Buchanan Street location in November 2008, and it is by far the most beautiful, sturdy and central location to date. The designers are back on site and the space is large enough to accommodate fashion shows, workshops and private viewing parties once again.
