Our first
blog installment of the story that is Halleluwah Hits, Glasgow's new label for
cutting-edge pop music. With a little nook in the Che Camille
showroom, the boys encourage all music lovers to pop their head
into this man-corner to find limited edition tees, rare vinyl and
some damn good banter.

When we
met Tom Marshallay, aka Dam Mantle, up in HH HQ, he brought with
him a few tunes he'd been creating under the name Animals +
War. Loving the sound, we immediately asked if he could do us
a mixtape and the result just blew us away,
introducing us to his new musical direction as Dam Mantle.
Still hanging on to the roots of Animals + War, but mixing it
up with all the exciting aspects of the Glasgow electronic
scene. After asking Tom to DJ at a few Che Camille parties,
we discovered we were all on the same brainlength - the intense
feeling that Glasgow has a musical energy unriveled right now, that
something is going to explode in the city!
With the bloggers and magazines
including Neu, 405 and Wire starting to go wild for Dam
Mantle, these next couple of months are going to be well busy.
Especially as his remixing duties are in heavy demand, with
upcoming reworks of Gold Panda, Au Revoir Simone and Gonjasufi, and
more in the pipeline.
Over the next week we talked about a release, and we're happy
to announce it will be bouncing off your ears on the 5th of April,
on a Easter Special holy Halleluwah day. Grey, Dam
Mantle's debut EP is a fusion of various elements, exploring the
theatrical and the transcultural all the while holding on to
electronic music for dear life. Dam Mantle often finds itself stuck
in a loop where various points in time and various cultures meet
and refract each other, this forms a regurgitation of 'now'. The
pic above is from the awesome EP cover work, which is all Tom's
(Dam Mantle) design and to add to the beauty of this release,
he is screenprinting each one, by himself, all 300 copies!
